I made this card for my mum for mother's day. Have made a vow to myself to make all greetings cards from now on.
This one uses very simple applique, the heart is filled out with toy stuffing. I kept the edges raw because I like the look. The background fabric is little samples I was sent once - nothing ever wasted. The material didn't quite reach the edges of the aperture so I used a sharpy to make an impromptu border, the sharpy bled a little into the fabric which I think works quite well actually.
